Sometimes “a little extra” can actually be just right, at least when it comes to treating substance abuse disorders. Getting control of substance abuse is difficult, but not impossible. In some cases, regaining control requires an extra boost. That is why APDS offers medication- assisted treatment (MAT)

Who We Are:

Substance abuse treatment is one part of our behavioral health work, and medication-assisted treatment (MAT) can be an added option. Treatment with medicine may be the extra boost you need to finally get in control. APDS and its certified counselors will guide you through.

Our program for MAT has four phases:

PHASE 1

Evaluation & Stabilization

• Weekly.
• 3 days of counseling.
• 1 individual session
without the group.
• 1 monthly medical visit
prescribing Vivitrol OR 1
weekly medical visit
prescribing Suboxone.
• Random urine checks.
• Combined with Phase 2
for a total of at least
240 session hours.

PHASE 2

Education & Implementation

• Weekly.
• 3 days of counseling.
• 1 individual session
without the group.
• 1 monthly medical visit
prescribing Vivitrol OR 1
weekly medical visit
prescribing Suboxone.
• Random urine checks.
• Combined with Phase 1
for a total of at least
240 session hours.

PHASE 3

Transition

• Weekly.
• One 90-minute group
counseling session.
• 1 individual session
without the group.
• 1 monthly medical visit
prescribing Vivitrol OR 1
weekly medical visit
prescribing Suboxone.
• Random urine checks.
• Combined with Phase 4
for the needed session
hours.

PHASE 3

Maintenance

• Every other week.
• Bi-weekly.
• 1 individual session.
• Group attendance if
more support is needed.
• Random urine checks.
• Combined with Phase 3
for the needed session
hours.
